Games that use dice and the dice themselves date back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but modern craps is approximately a century old. Modern craps come about from the ancient Anglo game called Hazard. Early French colonists imported the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 18th century, when exiled by the English, the French headed south and settled in southern Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they took their preferred game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns streamlined the game and made it fair mathematically.
